Loomis Act Unanimously Passes Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee
Holy cow!!! Just learned that today, the Senate Committee unanimously passed the Loomis Act!
People’s calls to their legislators are paying off, and it is quite a thing to experience democracy working as we grow up learning and believing that it ought to. The work definitely isn’t over, but it’s a very important step in the right direction.
Senators Blumenthal (CT) and Murray (WA), thank you for your leadership on this issue and reintroducing the bill and members of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee, Senators Moran (KS), Boozman (AR), Cassidy (LA), Tillis (NC), Sullivan( AK), Blackburn (TN), Cramer (ND), Tuberville (AL), Banks (IN), Sheehy (MT), Sanders (VT), Hirono (HI), Hassan (NH), Duckworth (IL), Gallego (AZ), and Slotkin (MI), thank you so much for your support, concern and attention to this issue. (In addition to Congresswoman Dingell, who has brought the bill to the House, and Senators Schiff, Booker, Rosen, and Whitehouse who have also signed on as co-sponsors despite not being on the VA committee.)
