Speaking with Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies
Last week I had the pleasure of speaking with a group of students from Yale’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies about a trip I did driving cross-country asking people about their sense of and connection to place. It was a bit of a hare-brained adventure–all the more so considering we started out in the middle of November. Not exactly the best time of year to drive across country. Considering we have a pretty well-developed sense of place in the Tetons, and that latitude is a strong driver of what makes a place, that place (at least from a biophysical perspective), I decided following the line of latittude where my home in Idaho is located, would provide a reference point for the journey. What followed was both stunning and surprising…..
